Journey Through the Funkier Side of... Dragn'fly

Finally a new complilation ala me. This particular mix was done at the request of my Strategik boyz and was as included as part of a giveaway package done at the StrategikSF Takeover of Bassdrop event event I performed at down at Shine a few weeks ago. When it comes to Strategik, I tend to put a little more funk in the trunk and this mix reflects that. So go on - grab it, share it, and let me know what you think...

This mix was captured live on June 16th, 2007 at the Stilldream 7 year anniversary campout and features Dragn'fly and Forest Green as they battle back & forth "tag-team" style. The crowd went completely insane and even today many a Stilldreamer refers to this set as... legendary.

Dragn'fly: Featured Mix on Illuminate Radio

This mix was broadcast on Illuminate Radio on July 28,2007. This station was known at the time to cater to a more "trancey" crowd, but of course, I ventured off into a few other realms like I typically do. The tracklisting is available here.

Dragn'fly: Cal-Trance Pre-Show Special

Originally broadcast on November 10, 2004, this mix was featured as part of the official United preshow hosted by Cal-Trance. The set starts out on the tribal, progressive tip, but the journey quickly takes you through various realms of energetic trance. And if you happen to be "non-fan" of Bush like me, then you might appreciate the intro on this one.

:CODE - Amber vs. Dragn'fly 2x4

Yes, someone actually captured audiophilic evidence of the infamous "Amber vs. Dragn'fly 2x4"! Now for those who are saying to themselves, "What the heck is a 2x4?", let me fill you in... A 2x4 is 2 DJs playing on 4 turntables at the SAME TIME. It's not the same as a "tag team", where you have 2 dj's just switching off every few records or so... No! This is an actual 2x4 and I'm proud to say that Amber & I went on to become one of the few teams in around who actually got it done the way it was supposed to be!

Recorded live on July 6th, 2002 at Divalicious , an event that went down in a massive way at the ;egendary NAF studios in Seattle, Washington. This mix features many of my favorite tracks from that year and marked my transition into more diverse musical journeys spanning the sub-genres of tech-house, trance, techno and dark NRG. The recording is 1 hour and 45 minutes in length and was made available as a double disc CD set upon its release. Dragn’fly presents... Legacy of Kain

Recorded on October 30th, 2001. This CD was completed at the request of gaming giant Eidos Interactive in conjunction with the official release of the newest installment in the Legacy of Kain gaming series: Blood Omen 2. Accompanied by added samples from the Legacy of Kain series, the mix reflects the overall dark theme of the games and from it’s eerie, progressive beginning, it crescendos into an all out spank fest (a hard trance assault on the senses). The original CD version (produced by Eidos) was handed out to the 1,000 privileged attendees of the official Legacy of Kain release party, which showcased the talent of DJ Dragn’fly alongside SF’s own trance DJ/producer Spesh (Loöq Records) at the DNA lounge in San Francisco, CA.

The MP3 of this mix gained massive worldwide attention as a featured piece on the official Legacy of Kain sites hosted by Eidos Interactive in England, Germany, and America and within its first year had exceeded 50,000 downloads.

Recorded live on October 23rd, 2001 at Fluorine, a weekly event held in Oakland, CA. Unfortunately, the original recording no longer exists and the MP3 version just doesn't sound the best when turned up loud, but don't let that stop you from giving it a listen.

Dragn'fly: Emergence

Recorded on August 4th, 2001 and originally featured on the site of yet another San Francisco trance collective, conveniently known as Transcollective. This mix is a bit more on the trancey side, yet the integration of hard, dark techy beats again create a journey that, in the end, will have you out of your chair - dancing!!!!

Dragn'fly: Live at Aranji

Recorded live on August 3rd, 2001 at Aranji in San Francisco. It was hot... It was sweaty... and the crowd was PUMPIN'!!!!!! Another incredible event to be added to the books!!! The screams from the crowd were captured throughout the recording and serves as a perfect backdrop to help those that weren't fortunate to take part - feel like they are there!!!

Dragn'fly: Live at Sweet! A Crack Between Worlds

Click Here to Download (183 MB) - Click Here to Stream - Click here for Cue File

Recorded live on November 25th, 2000 in SF, CA at what became one of the most celebrated underground gatherings in Bay Area history. The recording is a prime example of audio manipulation, Dragn'fly style, and takes the listener on an intense journey through the darker side of tech-trance. Featuring tracks from: Max & Amino, Mauro Picotto, Souldriver, the Fallen Angel, and more...

Many thanks to Jonathan Bromson for the recording...

Dragn'fly: Live at Illuminaughty (Burning Man 2000)

Recorded live September 1, 2000, this mix was part of a larger project aimed at capturing, in its entirety, a single night of music as it was unleashed upon the crowds gathered at the now infamous Illuminaughty Burning Man Camp by some of the best DJs to hit the playa at the time. Being one of those DJs, my mix became part of a limited edition
9 CD box set along with Paul Oakenfold, Mark Lewis, Hernan Cattaneo, Rikki, and John Schiffer.
